How to Play?
IELTS Mastery is a timed English challenge that puts you through the core skill areas of the real IELTS exam and hands you an estimated band score at the end — so you always know exactly where you stand.
Choose your domains. Pick from 8 skill areas — Vocabulary, Synonyms, Grammar, Reading, Collocations, Prepositions, Idioms, and Word Formation — then select a few to drill or take on all of them at once.
Set your challenge. Choose how far you want to go — 10 questions, 20 questions, or Marathon mode — and set your pace with a 15-second sprint timer, a comfortable 25-second clock, or Relaxed mode with no timer at all.
Beat the clock. Each question runs against a countdown ring. The faster you lock in a correct answer, the bigger the time bonus you bank — just like the pressure of the real exam.
Build your streak. Every correct answer in a row stacks a streak multiplier, so a hot run is worth far more than scattered guesses. Break the chain and the multiplier resets.
Learn from every answer. After each question you see whether you were right and a short explanation of why, so a wrong answer becomes something you actually remember next time.
Earn your band. When you finish, your rocket of right answers converts into an estimated IELTS band from 1.0 to 9.0, complete with the official descriptor (from Modest User up to Expert User) and a breakdown of how you scored in each domain.
Tips: Use keyboard keys 1–4 to pick an answer fast and Enter to move on. Tap the sound button to turn effects on or off, choose your domains and difficulty before you start, and hit Play Again to chase a higher band anytime.
This game sharpens your IELTS English
IELTS Mastery is built around the way exam skills actually develop. Instead of just reading rules and word lists, every question forces you to recall the answer under a ticking clock — and that mix of active retrieval and time pressure is exactly what trains you for test day. The instant explanation after each answer turns mistakes into lessons rather than dead ends, while the per-domain breakdown shows you precisely where you're strong and where you're leaking marks. Because the band estimate updates every time you play, you get a clear, motivating sense of progress, and the short, game-sized rounds make it easy to practice often — which matters far more for steady improvement than one exhausting study marathon.
Best for IELTS candidates and ambitious English learners
If you're preparing for IELTS — or just want to push your English from "good enough" to genuinely sharp — this is a fast, low-pressure way to train. It targets the building blocks examiners reward: precise vocabulary, natural collocations, accurate grammar, the right prepositions, and careful reading. There's nothing to set up and no long passages to wade through before you start — you pick your domains, see a question, and choose the right answer. Because every question comes with an explanation, you're not just testing yourself, you're learning in the same minute. It suits intermediate learners building confidence, advanced learners hunting a Band 7+, and anyone who wants to revise in short bursts instead of cramming.
Common mistakes learners make
A few habits quietly hold IELTS candidates back:
Learning words in isolation. Memorizing a word without the phrase it lives in means you recognize it but can't use it naturally — and IELTS rewards natural, accurate usage.
Ignoring the small words. Prepositions and collocations ("good at," "make a decision," "depend on") are easy marks that learners throw away because they feel minor. They aren't.
Reading every word in a passage. In Reading, trying to understand everything wastes time. The skill is locating the answer, not translating the whole text.
Guessing without eliminating. Jumping at the first plausible option lets clever distractors catch you. Strong candidates rule out the wrong answers first.
Translating in their head. Converting each question back to your first language slows you down and breaks the timing that real IELTS demands.
Moving on from wrong answers. Getting one wrong and never finding out why is the fastest way to make the same mistake on exam day.
Tips to improve faster
Read the question before the options. Decide what you think the answer is, then check it against the choices — so you're testing yourself, not just picking.
Learn words in phrases. Store "heavy traffic," "pay attention," and "make progress" as whole chunks, and the right word comes for free.
Race the clock on purpose. Use the 15-second timer once you're comfortable; training under pressure makes the real exam feel slower.
Eliminate before you choose. Cross out the two answers you're sure are wrong, then decide between what's left.
Read every explanation. The few seconds after each question are where the real learning happens — don't skip straight to the next one.
Replay your weak domains. If Prepositions or Reading drags your band down, run that domain on its own until it stops costing you marks.
